From Women-Church Convergence
May 6, 2025
As the College of Cardinals proceeds to select the new Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, the world is yearning for a voice that speaks with love and compassion to
every person
A voice for Peace throughout the world.
A voice for the marginalized in every country.
A voice to save Earth and the cosmos.
A voice to protect innocent children.
A voice that will speak truth to power.
A voice that will call forth and support the gifts of women.
A voice that will model honesty and integrity as a way of living.
A voice that addresses issues that the Synod left unfinished.
A voice that believes freedom is for everyone.
A voice that declares that equity, diversity, and inclusivity must prevail.
A voice that demands and recognizes that women’s truths are part of the whole truth.
As the Conclave proceeds to select the new Pope, all members of the Church should yearn for and expect a process that is inclusive. Without women’s participation, young people’s voices, the views of those who live on the margins, and more, only a tiny fraction of the community is involved and synodal efforts will be in vain. The challenges of this world and the struggles within the Church require full and equal participation from the whole Church. No role in leadership or decision-making should be dependent on a person's gender, gender identity, or sexual preference. Let this be the last exclusive Conclave as a new Church comes into being. The time for a reset is now!
